Chemistry and the Bible

Today, I want to talk about chemistry. That’s right, chemistry.

Do you remember Boaz and Ruth. Now they had chemistry. You know that Boaz was a much better man after he met Ruth.  Before he met her, he was Ruth – less.  Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Slapped my neon that one.

I actually tried writing jokes about the periodic table...but I realized I wasn't quite in my element.

I would tell another chemistry joke...but all the good ones Argon.

Ok ok, now let’s talk about the real chemistry in the Bible with the real elements from the periodic table.

The elements are in the earth. In Isaiah 45:3 God says, “I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord.”

Most of the earth’s valued treasures are found only in dark, secret places – in deep mines which give us our most precious minerals: gold, silver, diamonds, and other precious stones, and even our fuel, coal and oil.

So where did all of the elements come from?

The Apostle Paul gives us an answer to this question in Colossians 1:16,17. “all things were created through [Jesus] and for him,” and “in him all things hold together”, “through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made (John 1:3).

The late Dallas Willard would say that Jesus was the greatest chemist that ever existed.

This is dirt, similar to the dirt God used to create Adam.

Genesis 2:7 says, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being”. For years, the scientific community dismissed and often ridiculed the apparent childlike simplicity of the Bible’s claim that God created humankind from “the dust of the ground.” Well, they aren’t dismissing it anymore.

Scientists have discovered that the elements found within the human body are the same as those found in dirt and clay. In 1982, after an in-depth study, researchers at NASA’s Ames Research Center confirmed that every single element found in the human body is also present in dirt. “We are just beginning to learn,” the scientists acknowledged. “The biblical scenario for the creation of life turns out to be not far off the mark.”

I think we are a lot closer than that. I think the creation story is a bull’s eye!

Romans 1:20 says, “For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”

Sir Isaac Newton said, “SCIENCE CONTINUES TO CONFIRM AND CATCH UP WITH THE BIBLE. No sciences are better attested to than the science of the Bible”.

Ok, I zinc you liked this!

Catch you later.
